Commander Paul McClure of the U.S. Navy Japan, gave a talk on Operation Tomodachi, an unprecedented rescue mission carried out by the U.S. forces in the wake of the Great East Japan Earthquake, in front of 250 people gathered at the Imperial Hotel Osaka In the talk, Commander McClure illustrated how the Pacific Forces’ commander moved his commanding post from Hawaii to Yokota with his 200 staffs, as well as relating interesting episodes that took place in the “front line.” After the talk, a reception was held in which lots of people had opportunity to meet the commander in person, shooting photos and making additional questions about the talk. This event was made possible by the generous grant from the U.S. Consulate General in Osaka-Kobe. We are extremely grateful for their support and cooperation to this event.
